If you have ever visited or stayed at Derriford Hospital or the Royal Eye Infirmary the chances are you will have come into contact with one of our 600+ volunteers. It could have been a Hospital Guide at the front desk at Derriford, a ward visitor, a chaplaincy helper, a shop or café volunteer, a Mustard Tree Day Centre befriender or even if you simply listened to Hospital Radio or read a St John’s library book, our volunteers can be found enhancing the quality of patient care throughout the Trust. However, there’s always room for more.
Each year generous companies and individuals help us to raise much-needed funds to improve our facilities and care for our patients, visitors and staff. Find out more about our League of Friends and supporting charities by clicking the links on the left.
The main purpose of having volunteers in the hospitals is to help improve the quality of life for patients and offer services and activities which complement the work carried out by paid staff. Find out how you can help by clicking the link on the left.
