Advent Day 9

Cardiac Physiologists & The Saba Grounds Team - Taking Ownership

Cardiac Physiologists

Photo of Cardiac Physiologists The Cardiac Physiologists are the unsung heroes of the Cardiology and Cardiothoracics department. Without them, none of the work we do would be possible.

Despite on-going staff shortages due to recruitment difficulties, their work remains of the highest standard, supporting all activities within our department providing a full high quality services including elective diagnostic investigations for all patients with cardiac disease. This includes investigations for inpatients; follow-up of all patients with cardiac rhythm management (CRM) devices, emergency services when on-call, and the training program in cardiac physiology (BSC in Healthcare science).

The Saba Grounds Team

Photo of Saba Grounds Team The three grounds staff cover the entire Derriford site and off-sites including Bush Park and the Child Development Centre. The small team work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the grass, trees, plants, pond areas are clean cut and maintained. They also cover the entire site picking up all the litter, emptying the bins and sweeping the road ways, cleaning the windows etc.

The whole team continue with this role with great pride and never complain with the sheer amount of work it takes to keep the site looking good for our patients and visitors. I honestly believe they take ownership of the site and strive to keep the site looking good.

Also nominated were:

Paul Commander, Estates Department

Jane Clark, Pharmacy

Midwife team, Central Delivery Suite

Matthew Potter Shipley Ward

ANP team in the Emergency Department
