It is with a mixture of sadness and delight we share news that Neil Kemsley, our Director of Finance, will leave us next summer.
Neil will take up a new post as Director of Finance and Information at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust in July 2019.
Neil, whose home is in Somerset, has been with our trust since 2015. He leads our finance and procurement teams, whilst also overseeing improvement programmes such as Model Hospital and Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT).
Ann James, Chief Executive, said: “Neil is not only an excellent and extremely capable Director of Finance, he is an integral and strong member of our Executive team. His approach as Director of Finance has always reflected his commitment to making a difference, not just towards improving efficiency, but to helping clinical staff improve outcomes for patients.
“He is very well-respected by colleagues not just across our trust, but across the peninsula. He will be a great asset to Bristol and his shoes will be hard to fill.”
Neil said: “I will be sad to leave. I have loved working in Plymouth, with so many fabulous colleagues who are so committed to improving the services we provide. With the recent news regarding the capital investments in the Emergency Department, Imaging and Pathology, there is much to look forward to and I am sure the trust will make the most of those opportunities.”
We will begin the recruitment process to find a new Director of Finance in the new year.
