There were smiles all round today when Plymouth Argyle players visited the children’s wards at Derriford Hospital. The players and a small number of backroom staff visit our children’s wards laden with presents every year.

Together with Pilgrim Pete and, of course, Father Christmas, the players and staff spent the afternoon in the children’s playroom and the teenage unit meeting patients and their families and giving out books, toys and other assorted goodies.

Nurse Marion Roch said: “Seeing the team really brightens the patients’ day and the staff love seeing them too.”

Craig Brewster, Assistant Manager: “It’s really humbling to come in to see these kids. It’s so nice for the kids to meet some of their heroes on the pitch. The support we get from the city is magic, so if we can keep giving it back then it’s great”

On behalf of our patients and their families, we’d like to say a big thank you to Argyle for giving their time and gifts so generously. We wish them all the best for the rest of the season – go Green Army!
