UHP Board's statement on racism and discrimination

Board Racism pledge

In recent months the Covid19 pandemic and the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis has focused global attention on health inequalities and systemic racial discrimination.

Sir Simon Stevens CEO of NHS England issued a personal message which contained these words:

“ ... if we are honest with ourselves, the NHS as an embedded part of society is both part of the problem and part of the solution”

Within that context and within the spirit of Sir Simon’s message the Board of University Hospitals Plymouth wish to make the following statement.

Therapy gym opens patients on Stannon Ward

Physio staff

We have opened a rehab therapy gym for patients in a bay on Stannon Ward. Patients from different areas of the hospital will be able to come to the gym and use it as part of their therapy. There will be seven or eight sessions per day as well as some socially-distanced group exercises. Patients have already been having fun in the gym, helping them recover and get home.

Squad members from the Pilgrims' 2016/17 League Two promotion-winning campaign have auctioned their match-worn shirts in aid of Plymouth Hospitals Charity.

The iconic white away shirt with the green band was recently voted the winner of the 'World Cup of Kits' on the club's official Twitter account - which gave Pilgrims midfielder Antoni Sarcevic an idea.
