Resounding South West patient support for health research

Taking part in health research comes highly recommended by patients in the South West who felt valued and well looked after as study participants.  The findings of the second annual Patient Experience Questionnaire (PEQ) survey carried out by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network: South West Peninsula found that patients taking part in studies viewed their experience very positively.

Blood salvage technique is big success at Derriford

A blood conservation project for people undergoing operations is being rolled out across Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust because of benefits to patients as well as cost savings. The cell salvage project has been running since 2008 with proven health benefits to patients and cost benefits for our Trust. It involves collecting and reusing blood that a patient loses during a procedure.
