We have had a busy month on our children’s wards with lots of exciting visits and generous donations. Each and every donation has helped to bring happiness to children who are in hospital over the Christmas period.

Plymouth Albion’s First Team squad came to visit the children’s wards at Derriford Hospital last week.
The players came armed with gifts and toys which they handed out to bring smiles to children who are in hospital at Christmas time.

It is with a mixture of sadness and delight we share news that Neil Kemsley, our Director of Finance, will leave us next summer. Neil will take up a new post as Director of Finance and Information at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust in July 2019.

It is estimated that there are at least 71 million people with Hepatitis C infection worldwide, with 215,000 in the UK. Many of those infected with Hepatitis C in the UK are still undiagnosed, and others know they are infected but are reluctant to come forward for treatment, often due to misconceptions about what treatment entails.

Staff are today celebrating after news came through that Plymouth has been awarded £30 million to build a new Urgent and Emergency Care Hub. A further £12million is being invested in new hi-tech scanners and histopathology across Devon and the south west.
