The Board of Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust is a statutory body appointed by the Secretary of State for Health and responsible for running the Trust’s hospitals in line with Department of Health policy and relevant legislation.
The Trust Board manages the overall direction and aims for the Trust and controls the organisation in the public’s interest, ensuring accountability to the public.
The Board has 11 voting members – the Chairman, the Chief Executive, four executive directors and five part-time non-executive directors.
There are eleven Board meetings per year. These are held in the Board Room at Derriford Health & Leisure Centre, Derriford Hospital. Members of the public, patients, families, staff and local stakeholders, such as MPs, are all welcome to attend.
Dates for 2012, all Fridays, are:
6 January, 3 February, 2 March, 13 April, 4 May, 1 June, 6 July, 7 September, 5 October, 2 November and 7 December.
All meetings commence at 9.00 am.

Helen O'Shea - Acting Chief Executive
Helen O'Shea has worked within the NHS for more than 28 years, beginning her career as a nurse and completing her training as a registered nurse in 1987. She stepped into the role of Acting Chief Executive on 30 July 2011.
Sarah Watson-Fisher - Chief Nurse
Sarah Watson-Fisher has 23 years experience as a Registered Nurse and has practiced in acute, community and academic sectors, before moving into corporate nursing roles ten years ago.
Richard Crompton - Chairman
Mr Richard Crompton has been appointed to serve as a non-executive Chairman of Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust from 1 August 2012.
Ian Douglas, Non Executive Director
Mr Ian Douglas joined Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust as a non-executive director in June 2007. Ian is a FCMA and heads his own financial management consultancy.
