In March 2009 the Trust held inaugural elections for the Council of Governors and duly elected 19 public and 6 staff governors. In addition to these elected governors, there are 7 appointed governors from organisations with which we work closely, such as local authorities and primary care trusts.
Over 30 people stood for the 19 public governor positions that were up for election and members voted in their hundreds for the governors they wanted to represent them. They will operate as a consultation group until we become a Foundation Trust.
The Trust 'governors' meetings take place on a quarterly basis and are made up of elected members from the Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall & Isles of Scilly constituencies, the 6 staff groups within the Trust and appointed representatives from our local stakeholders.
