Staff Nurse Sarah Houghton from Birch ward organised a Wear It Red Day to raise awareness and funds for Plymouth & District Leukaemia Fund (PDLF) on 14th February.

Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust has become the top user in the South West of a special diagnostic table to detect breast cancer, which makes biopsy more comfortable, and can allow biopsy in tricky areas that the conventional technique cannot get to.

The Trust reported at its public board meeting, to patient representatives, shadow governors, members of the public and media that since January 2009 six ‘never events’ have occurred, including four cases of retained swabs.
