We are delighted to announce that Greg Dix has been appointed as our new Director of Nursing
Greg is currently Director of Nursing and Governance at Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. He joined Taunton in 2006 as Associate Director of Nursing, moving to the role of Deputy Director of Nursing in 2008. Following a competitive process, in 2011 he was promoted to the role of Director of Nursing and Governance.
After qualifying in Cardiff as a Registered Nurse in 1991, Greg held a variety of clinical, education and managerial posts and spent two years working as a senior clinical nurse in both the North and South Island of New Zealand. In 2006, he graduated with a Master of Law and holds a specialist interest in the legal aspects of nursing practice.
Greg’s appointment was made following a day of sequential panel interviews involving doctors, nurses and other health professionals, staff and governors from the Trust.
Chief Executive of Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, Ann James said: “The quality of care patients receive and the compassion with which that care is given is a core priority for any healthcare service. This priority needs strong professional leadership at Board level. Greg is an experienced nurse and an experienced nurse leader at Board level. We look forward to him bringing his skills and experience to our Trust to help us continually improve the quality and safety of the care we offer.
“I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Kevin Marsh, who has stepped up as Acting Chief Nurse and led the nursing agenda with real dedication in recent months.”
Greg will start in his new post on Monday 25 February 2013.
