Consultant Anaesthetist

Dr Scott Ferguson, Consultant in Intensive Care, trained at the University of Dundee, Scotland and graduated in 1985.  His intensive care and anaesthetic training occurred in a variety of different locations from 1986 to his appointment in Derriford Hospital, Plymouth in 1998. Scott was a Carnegie scholar to the University of Florida and awarded the Magill Medal from the Royal College of Anaesthetists.  He spent two years training at the Children’s Hospital in Sydney, Australia specialising in both paediatric anaesthesia and intensive care.  The remainder of his UK experience was undertaken in the Wessex rotation including Southampton General Hospital.  Scott’s specialist interests include paediatric intensive care in a District General Hospital setting; sepsis and infection; and junior doctor training.  He is also the Director for the local Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient Course.
