Consultant in Acute Medicine and Intensive Care
General Information:
Sam Waddy qualified from St John’s College Cambridge, and spent most of his postgraduate training in the Oxford Deanery, training in acute general medicine and intensive care. His main interests are in the process of training junior doctors and service development, as a trainee he served for 5 years on the Intensive Care Society Trainee Committee which he chaired for 2 years. He was on the programme board for the Critical Care Practitioner Programme and continues to serve on the Critical Care Workforce Reference Group at the Department of Health.
General Areas of Expertise:
The care and management of acutely unwell patients with a broad range of problems and diagnoses. Teaching and training medical students and junior doctors in caring for the acutely unwell patient.
Particular Areas of Expertise:
Special interest in ventilator associated pneumonia. Service development including electronic records, combined documentation, workforce planning.
Improving the hospital environment, he has voluntarily provided a range of high resolution photographs for several areas of the hospital.
