Welcome to Cancer Services at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust
Our aim is to provide the best possible standards of cancer treatment, care and support and we want to do it better and faster.

In 2006/7 we treated more than 95% of all patients referred with suspected cancer within 62 days and  more than 98% of patients within 31 days of your decision to be treated.

We are a specialist cancer centre delivering treatment for our patients through surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy services.

There are 13 specialist teams who meet weekly to discuss patients and decide the best treatment and care possible. The teams include surgeons, physicians, radiologists and pathologists, oncologists, cancer nurse specialists and other health care professionals.
We also have a team of coordinators who track new patients from suspected cancer referral from GP to first treatment to ensure all your tests and appointments are undertaken quickly. Each team has a cancer nurse specialist who is available to answer questions, provide support to you and your family and liase with other services to ensure your care is the highest standard.

We have state-of-the-art services to detect, plan and deliver treatment together with excellent supportive care from nursing and allied health professionals to address the cancer and palliative aspects of care and needs of family supporters.

There is a purpose built Macmillan Cancer Support Centre “ the Mustard tree” which provides information, support, financial advice, complementary therapies and counselling. This service is also provided weekly in Tavistock and Kingsbridge.
