Welcome to a short photographic tour of the maternity unit at Derriford Hospital. We hope you find this helpful. If you have any questions about the unit please check our Frequently Asked Questions or speak to your midwife
During your pregnancy you will be offered a scan at around 12 weeks and again at around 20 weeks.
Please ensure you let our receptionist know when you arrive for your appointment
Scans are held on level 6 in the Antenatal Clinic area.
This is a typical example of one of our birthing rooms. Before admission to labour ward you will be assessed by a "Triage midwife" to ensure you recieve the most appropriate care.

After the birth of your baby you will be offered a bed on one of our maternity wards on level 7. Most of the beds on the maternity wards are in shared rooms, with 4 beds in each room.
The maternity wards each have a seperate dining room.
Midwives and maternity care assistants are on hand to answer any questions you may have. Mums and babies will usually spend between 1-3 days in hospital.
