North Devon District Hospital
North Devon District Hospital is in the town of Barnstaple which is not far from the north Devon coast.  The populations of North Devon and Torridge account for approximately 94% of the patient flow to the hospital with the remaining 6% of patients coming from neighbouring areas of the rest of Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, as well as visitors to the area accessing emergency care. During the summer holidays there is a significant increase in activity from holiday makers.

The Royal Cornwall Hospital is in the county town of Truro which is in West  Cornwall. The is the principal provider of acute care services in the county of Cornwall. It serves a population of around 450,000 people, a figure often doubled by holidaymakers during the busiest times of the year.

The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital is an NHS Foundation Trust that provides specialist and emergency hospital services to about 350,000 residents and visitors primarily in Exeter and East and Mid Devon. They are closely linked with Peninsula College for Medicine and Dentistry.

The South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust catchment area covers 300 square miles - from South Dartmoor to the length of coastline which stretches from the mouth of the River Exe (Dawlish), past the Teign and Dart estuaries (beyond Dartmouth). Torbay Hospital therefore serves a resident population of approaching 300,000 people, plus about 100,000 visitors at any one time during the summer holiday season.
