Pastoral & Spiritual Care (Chaplaincy)
Coming into hospital can often be a difficult time - both for the patient as well as their family and friends. The challenge of unfamiliar surroundings and the illness which brings you here can sometimes raise all kinds of concerns and anxieties which may be difficult to share with even your closest family or friends.
The Department of Pastoral and Spiritual Care is here to offer immediate support to help you cope with a hospital stay and is available for all patients, family, friends and staff.
Who are we here for?
For everyone, regardless of who you are or what you do or do not believe in.
What do we do?
Pastoral Care - we offer a listening ear
Spiritual Care - we can help you in trying to make sense of your situation
Religious Care - for those who require it we can provide faith support from all the major religions
There are chaplains from various Christian traditions in the hospital every day during normal office hours (except Saturday) and there is a chaplain available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for emergencies and those in urgent need. We also have a trained pastoral team who visit the wards every week. We have good contacts with the local community and further afield and can contact local faith community leaders or anyone else who you would wish to come and give you the support you are looking for.
