Transport Links

Patients and Visitors are encouraged to use public transport to travel to the Hospital where possible, due to the pressure on parking spaces.  The Hospital is served well by public transport, hosting the second busiest bus terminal in Plymouth.

For further information, the public transport services available are listed below.

Buses
Most buses are wheelchair accessible. If you receive benefits you can claim a refund from the Cashier (level 7, Derriford Hospital). Bus timetables can be obtained from First Stop at the Civic Centre, from public libraries and from First Bus and Citybus travel shops. Timetables are also available at Derriford Hospital foyer. For more information about bus times etc. please telephone

Taxis
You can phone Taxifast free from the Derriford Hospital foyer on 01752 222222. There are several other taxi providers, some of which are wheelchair accessible meaning patients can remain in their wheelchairs without transferring, and drivers will convey patients direct to their appointment.

Park and Ride
There is a public park and ride site located north of Derriford Hospital at the George junction (opposite the George Pub/Hotel). Parking is FREE, although you will need to purchase a ticket to travel on the bus. This is ideal for patients and visitors travelling from the north of the City to Derriford Hospital. Catch the First Bus No. 7 bus from the park and ride, which stops directly outside the main entrance to the hospital. The first and last No. 7 buses run from the George to Derriford at 0735 and 1724. The service runs three times an hour at 00, 20 and 40 past each hour from the George, Monday to Saturday.

• Cannot be driven to your healthcare appointment with friends, neighbours or relatives, and
• Are medically unable to use public transport, or this is not practical due to your isolated/rural address
