Work of the Chaplaincy

What Do We Do?

A chaplain is here to offer you support at a time when maybe you feel a little vulnerable and uncertain. An admission to hospital is not something most of us would choose.

An unfamiliar place, new routines, strange faces and hi-tech machinery, when you are ill, can be a bit of a challenge, even a little frightening. The chaplain has time to listen to your concerns, offering you a listening ear. If this is what you want, have a word with a member of the ward staff on your arrival and they will arrange for a chaplain to visit.

Who Is It For?

For everyone, of any faith or none: it doesn’t matter if you’ve never been to church, and never intend to.

When Do We Do It?

The department provides 24 hour cover, for patients, staff, families and friends, and can be contacted via the Hospital switchboard: 0845 155 8155 / 01752 202082.

During normal working hours, the department can be reached on 0845 155 8155 / 01752 245255.
