What is an Amenity Bed?
An Amenity Bed is available to NHS patients who wish to pay for the privacy of a single en-suite room whilst their treatment remains NHS. The Hospital offers Amenity Beds on the Meavy Clinic, the Private Patient Unit, subject to availability.
This type of service is different to a private admission as no fees are paid to the specialist and all aspects of care are the same as for NHS patients elsewhere in the Trust.
Can I book an Amenity Bed?
Amenity beds are not guaranteed and are subject to availability.
If you wish to discuss the possibility of having an Amenity Bed, please speak to the Ward Administrator on the Meavy Clinic.
How much will it cost?
A charge of £250 is payable for each night spent in a Meavy Clinic Amenity Bed. This provides you with a single private en-suite room, daily newspaper, freeview television and direct dial telephone; additional charges will be made for the use of the telephone.
Amenity beds are also available as a side room on a general NHS ward at a reduced rate of £100 each night. As with beds on the Meavy Clinic these are subject to availability and the circumstances of the ward you are staying on.
To arrange a general ward amenity bed please speak to the nurses on your ward upon your admission.
