The South West Cardiothoracic Centre, located within Derriford Hospital, offers a comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical and interventional cardiology service, carrying out all heart operations and procedures, except transplants, for adult patients.

Our private services are managed by a dedicated Private Patients team located at the Meavy Clinic, the purposefully outfitted private ward at Derriford Hospital where the majority of private inpatient care takes place. Private outpatient care is performed throughout the trust and with the exception of Radiology will be arranged by the department responsible.

In most cases your first point of contact to arrange a private appointment or admission will be your consultant or GP. They will arrange a private referral to the necessary department or specialist consultant, or directly to the Private Patient team, to initiate your private healthcare pathway.
