Private inpatients stay in the Meavy Clinic which has twelve en-suite rooms and is located on level 5 of Derriford Hospital.  The rooms are designed for privacy and comfort, but are equipped to keep the staff in constant touch with you.  Television and telephones are provided and your choice of daily newspaper will be delivered to you each morning.

Private care is lead by the consultant who requested your planned admission. If you are admitted as an emergency, you will be cared for as an NHS patient until a consultant is identified to take over your care privately. Due to the specialist nature of your care and the availability of the consultant this may not always be possible. In this case your care will continue under the NHS.

The unit maintains very strong links with the rest of the specialist NHS service throughout the hospital.

All staff are continually updated and guided by the Trust policies and procedures. The very highest standard of care is planned and delivered to meet the specific needs of our patients.

 

Hotel Services
Meavy Clinic has its own Housekeeping and Catering team who work hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Rooms are cleaned daily, with fresh towels and toiletries provided for your convenience.
We have our own kitchen on the ward and are pleased to offer an extensive and appetising menu for you to choose from and will be happy to cater for your individual needs.
Visitors and relatives are welcome to join you for your meals, but note that there will be a charge for additional orders.
 
Ward Visiting Hours
The ward is open for visitors between 11.30 – 13.30 and 16.00 – 20.30.

Visiting times are restricted to allow patients to rest and for treatment to be administered.  If you have a problem visiting within these times, please speak to one of the Nurses who will make arrangements to suit your needs.
