Support Groups

There are a number of groups which aim to help you get on with your daily life as well as handle the effects of the treatment you may be receiving.  Your relatives, carers and friends are also welcome to come along to these groups to find out more about what living with your condition and how they can support you.

Brain Tumour Support – Cornwall (Website)

Providing support for patients, families and carers to ensure no-one feels alone when facing the effects of a brain tumour diagnosis.       

Day: Second Tuesday of the month

Cancer Services: Bladder Cancer Support Group

Run by patients for the benefit of patients and partners/carers. Input from Health Care Professionals such as Nurse Specialists, Urologists, Stoma Nurses and Mustard Tree staff

Cancer Services: Bosom Pals Breast Social Group  

Bosom Pals is a self-help support group for anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Day: Fourth Wednesday of every month

Cancer Services: Chestnut Appeal (Plymouth Prostate Support Group) - (website)

The Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer was founded in 1999 at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.  Since then it has gone on to be at the forefront of prostate cancer care right across the region. The group support the very latest in treatments and technology that wouldn’t be available without community fundraising and donations from the public.

This is an online support group covering Cornwall and a handful of members from various other places that may not have the support in their area.  Patients are able to share their experiences with other members of the group (Facebook closed page).

Respiratory: Plymouth Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group (Supported by: Action Pulmonary Fibrosis)

Open to all patients, relatives and friends.  Please pop along for a coffee and a chat. Invited speakers attend the meetings and it allows to opportunity to talk to others about living with the condition. Meetings are held bi monthly, January, March, May, July, September, November on the fourth Thursday of the month (13.30 – 15.00). Free Parking is available at the venue.
