The Trust is committed to being an employer of choice ensuring that employees achieve a healthy work life balance whilst offering a diverse and safe working environment.
The Trust has achieved the following on their continuous journey:
Improving Working Lives Practice Plus
In 2005 PHNT achieved practice plus accreditation of the Department of Health’s Improving Working Lives (IWL) initiative.
The Trust had to demonstrate to external assessors how staff are supported in the workplace through benefits, flexible working arrangements, safe working environment and access to training. A workforce development strategy had to be in place that reflected both national and local business needs and managers and staff also had to demonstrate a true understanding of equality and diversity.
Mindful Employer Charter
The Trust is a signatory to the Mindful Employer Charter which is a voluntary agreement giving support to staff and prospective employees whose mental health affects their ability to find or retain employment, training and education, or voluntary work.
The Trust are committed to ensuring that prospective and current employees who experience mental health issues are either able to find work with us or stay in their job with the necessary support.

Two Ticks Disability Symbol
The Trust holds the Two Ticks symbol status which is a recognition given by Jobcentre Plus to employers who have agreed to take action to support disabled employees in employment, retention, training and career development.
The Trust are committed to:
-
Interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and consider them on their abilities
-
Ensure there is a mechanism in place to discuss, at any time, but at least once a year, with disabled employees what can be done to make sure they can develop and use their abilities
-
Make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment
-
Take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make these commitments work
-
Each year reviewing the five commitments and what has been achieved, plan ways to improve on them and let employees and Jobcentre Plus know about progress and future plans.
