Fundraising and Volunteers
Each year generous companies and individuals help us to raise much-needed funds to improve our facilities and care for our patients, visitors and staff.
The main purpose of having volunteers in the hospitals is to help improve the quality of our patient’s lives and offer services and activities which complement the work carried out by paid staff.

Research
Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust is working hard to become a leading centre for medical research. This will enable patients to have access to the latest technologies, treatments and care by world leaders in their respective fields. A hospital with a good research portfolio will attract the best consultants and specialist registrars and, through its teaching, help inspire and produce the next generation of medical researchers.
