Medical Student Electives in Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust
Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust is a large teaching hospital that works in partnership with the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry. The Trust offers a limited number of placements for Medical Students (non-Peninsula Medical School) from the United Kingdom and Overseas. Placements are offered between the beginning of July and the end of August each year (see application form for exact dates). The placements provide an opportunity to experience the delivery of health care in a tertiary referral centre in the South West of England.

Number of Electives:
Places for elective medical students are limited. The total number of elective students accepted per year is 10 students.

Duration of Electives:
Two to four weeks – see Elective Placement Catalogue for how long each department is offering.

All applications should be addressed to Prof Hisham Khalil, Clinical Sub-Dean, Locality Office, Peninsula Medical School, John Bull Building, Research Way, Plymouth, PL6 8BU.  All applications should be made via email to louise.owenmoody@pms.ac.uk.

The deadline for submission of applications is 9th March 2012 to be considered for a placement in the same year. Applications should include the completed Application Form (downloadable on this page), an up to date Curriculum Vitae and a covering letter of why you would like to have your elective in Plymouth. Applications will be considered and the successful candidates will be informed by email by the end of March.

Fees:
The administrative fee for the elective placements is £75 per week.  This will need to be paid before the start of the elective placement. You can pay via the following methods:
