General information:
Dr Armstrong graduated from Cambridge University in 1995. Following 3 years as a Medical Officer with the Royal Marines he came to Derriford Hospital in 2000 for a surgical rotation. After obtaining MRCS, he joined the south west peninsula radiology training scheme, obtaining FRCR and becoming a Consultant Radiologist in November 2007. He spent 6 months in Leeds training on gastrointestinal radiology specifically.

General areas of expertise:
General radiology, especially CT.

Particular areas of expertise:

Dr Armstrong is currently the Trust lead clinician for Radiology IT and is a core member of the Gastrointestinal Radiology team. He specialises in trauma, abdominal cancer imaging gastrointestinal MRI and CT of the colon. He teaches Trauma care and CT colonography nationally.
