The Plymouth Hospitals Charity is hugely grateful to announce more than £1000 has been donated to the Gynae Oncology Ward through Tessa Henwood’s 10K Isles of Scilly swim.
Swimming in memory of two friends, Shelley Bridgman, and Caroline Le Messurier, who both sadly lost their lives to Ovarian Cancer, Tessa Henwood swam 10K around St.Martins, Isles of Scilly, in September 2022.
From her fundraising efforts, Tessa has donated £1120 to go towards the Gynae Oncology Ward at Derriford Hospital to support training for the Clinical Nurse Specialists and improve the support given to Gynae Cancer patients.
Tessa says of her fundraiser: “I felt it was important for some of the money raised to be donated locally, especially as the Gynae Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialists at Derriford Hospital looked after both Caroline and Shelley.”
Nickie Gavican, Service Line Support Manager, says of the donation: “On behalf of the Gynae Oncology Ward, we would like to thank Tessa. Her efforts of doing something positive in memory of her friends will benefit the care of others in the future and as a department we are most grateful.”
Alongside the £1120 raised for UHP Gynae Oncology Ward, Tessa also donated £1334 for Target Ovarian Cancer and in total raised £2454 via her Just Giving page.
