Notice on COVID-19 Donations (Non-Monetary)
As the local acute hospital, the Trust became the focal point for a huge amount of goodwill from the local community during the immediate response to COVID-19.
This ranged from little notes and displays of gratitude, through to kind donations of goods and services. The outpouring of kindness to our staff has been truly awe-inspiring and we are incredibly thankful for the amazing generosity shown.
As we move into the next phase of the response, it is important that the Trust shares some of the overwhelming generosity that is continuing to be shown.
Primarily, this includes working with local community groups, who serve the most vulnerable and deprived parts of our local population, that are currently recording all-time high levels of demand.
Where appropriate, the Trust will be working with donors to help redistribute certain donations to groups supporting local people in acute need. This includes supporting local food banks, Plymouth’s domestic abuse refuge and the Shekinah Mission, to name but a few.
Whilst the Trust has been the focal point for donations, it is also important to acknowledge the wider COVID-19 response that has taken place beyond the acute hospital sites.
It is intended that some future donations will be shared with our fantastic colleagues across health and social care, who continue to maintain essential services in the region during the response.
We hope that by working together, we can make a big difference to lives in our local community.
How can I get involved?
We are coordinating all donations of goods via plh-tr.HRcontrolcentre@nhs.net as this will allow us to receive and distribute donations in a safe way whilst we adhere to government advice on managing footfall.
