Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Stand in the Main Concourse on Level 6, Derriford Hospital
We will be holding an EDI stand in the main concourse on level 6 every day that will be stocked with useful resources for you to look at and take away with you, as well as the opportunity to engage and provide feedback. These stands will be supported by colleagues from different teams across the trust throughout the week.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Stand by the Level 7 Restaurant, Derriford Hospital – There will be an EDI stand by the level 7 Restaurant every day that will be stocked with useful resources for you to look at and take away with you, as well as the opportunity to engage and provide feedback.
Tuesday 9th May – Inclusive Recruitment
Webinar: Black Men Speak. 1pm to 2.15pm. Barts Health NHS Trust is hosting this webinar for Black Inclusion Week. With an exclusive panel of all Black men, the event will aim to celebrate, inspire, and empower Black men, as well as discussing issues like health, leadership, and stereotypes. Combatting Racism in Nursing with Ben Goodwin, Deputy Chief Nurse. 4pm to 5pm in Clinical Management Room, Level 7. As a Trust we are passionate about ensuring we have a nursing workforce that represents our community, and this means we see colleagues who identify as Black, Asian and ethnic minority at all levels of the workforce. We have setup a small group to look at what we can do differently as a Trust. Come along for a chat to learn about our plans and share your ideas and feedback. Bite-Sized Domestic Abuse Awareness Session – ‘Do you feel safe at home?’ with the Safeguarding Team. 4pm to 4.45pm on MS Teams. This microteach delivered by the Safeguarding team is for all workers including those in a non-patient facing role, students and those who are non-clinical to develop an awareness of how to ask ‘Do you feel safe at home?’ and how to respond to a positive disclosure.

POSTPONED - Manager’s Introduction to Autism with Lauren Davis, Autism Clinical Lead Specialist Nurse at UHP. This will be rearranged so please email us at plh-tr.equalitydiversityandinclusion@nhs.net if you are interested and you will be contacted when a new date has been set. 45 minute session covering a basic overview of autism, sensory processing and reasonable adjustments and what you can do as managers to be proactive in supporting neurodivergent staff with a 10 minute Q&A included.

11am to 2pm – Derriford Autism Service. Come along and talk to the Autism Team to learn more about the support they offer to neurodivergent colleagues and patients at UHP. Learn about the new Neurodiversity Staff Network at UHP.

Mental Health Awareness Week 15 to 21st May Events
Lunchtime walk - Walking is one of the easiest ways to improve our mental and physical wellbeing, and also connects us with our world and those around us. Join the Derriford Centre for Health and Wellbeing (DCHW) team for a 30 minute walk around the site. Meet at the steps at the top of DCHW. All welcome:

Accessible Guided Walk. Tuesday 16 May 10.30am. Take a stroll around Freedom Fields park guided by Plymouth Tree Partnership tree warden Jacques Marchal and arboriculturist Matt Underwood. Learn about the important role urban trees play in our lives, the wildlife they support, and the story of the people who plant and look after them.
