Allan's story: one of UHP's first patients with Covid-19 is discharged from hospital

Allan Farley

Allan Farley, was admitted into the Trust in March as one of the first patients to be diagnosed with and treated for COVID-19 in Derriford Hospital.

Watch him here as walked out the doors after his recovery from the illness. He was clapped out from Braunton Ward and, with his family watching on, out of the REI entrance by members of ICU and other staff.

Allan said: "I remember coming in. I text my brother and said 'they're going to sedate me and sort my breathing out'. He text back and said 'ok I'll speak to you tomorrow'  - not knowing that I was then out for about three and a half weeks."

"But I'm just so pleased to be where I am now, and to get home will be marvellous."

Everyone at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust wishes Alan and his family well.
