Our Covid experience: born early under lockdown

Giving birth to your first child can be a nervous time for any new mother. However, Gemma and Ryan Lucassi welcomed their new born baby Sebastian ten weeks early, just after the UK had entered lockdown due to COVID-19.

They received care on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Derriford Hospital, and they are now sharing their story of giving birth to a premature baby during lockdown restrictions, the range of amazing staff who provided calm in a situation of anxiety, and how they came to welcome Seb into the world.

A big thank you to Gemma and Ryan for telling their story.
