Reassurance for families of patients and staff after small fire

We want to reassure families of all patients and staff in the hospital today. We had a small electrical fire in a cabinet which was quickly contained, affecting only the main concourse on level 6 of Derriford Hospital. The Fire Service attended at 12.48pm and whilst the main concourse was closed, no inpatients or wards were affected.
During the time the Fire Service were in attendance (90 minutes), no one was allowed to exit or enter the hospital through the main concourse but all other entry and exit points remained unaffected. The Fire Service dealt with the electrical issue and removed the smoke with fans.? After checks by our own Estates team, the main concourse was re-opened.
There was no disruption caused to the hospital, no one was injured or required treatment and no damage has been caused. We would like to thank the Fire Service for such a swift and professional response. Good team working between our staff and theirs ensured the hospital continued to run as normally as possible.
