The use of the KSF framework for the Foundations in Oncology & Palliative Care Course

The use of the KSF framework allows managers and employees to identify specific personal development and service needs. The outcome of these consultations may be used to select courses/study days designed to meet in part or full the needs identified. The KSF dimensions indicated at the top of the ‘Foundations in Oncology and Palliative Care’ course are intended to reflect the educational content required to meet the broader service need. It should be noted that whilst some days may have a skills component, most do not.  Therefore, the non-practice days are intended to provide the underpinning knowledge needed as a foundation to good practice and a springboard for the development of existing skills and knowledge2.

All KSF dimension indicators used in this document were taken from Ibid.
