Hands, Face, Space Champions step forward
98 staff and volunteers from throughout the Trust have stepped forward and acted as Hands, Face, Space Champions during the pandemic. The network, set up by Sue Wilkins, Dr Joe Wallace and Amanda Nash, has educated and empowered the champions to act as ambassadors for good infection control and social-distancing practice within wards, departments and entrances.
We did it together
Network members, who range from doctors and specialist nurses to allied health professionals and volunteers, have received weekly educational sessions, worth CPD points. Subjects covered range from transmission of the virus and advice from infection control experts, to behavioural science and what this can tell us about compliance with measures designed to reduce spread, Long COVID, wellbeing and recovery as well as the impact of COVID on existing inequalities.
The champions have shared their learning and the weekly recorded sessions in their own team meetings, in departmental newsletters and in their own practice, such as establishing one-way systems and signposting colleagues to wellbeing resources.
