The Rotary Club of Yelverton has donated a total of £300 to Plymouth Hospitals Charity. The money Sandra raised will be shared equally between the Mustard Tree Cancer Support Centre at Derriford Hospital and the Triangle Centre in Tavistock.

Past president of the Rotary Club, Sandra Dineley-Jones was diagnosed with squamous cell rectal cancer, a rare form of cancer for which she has undergone 6 weeks of daily chemotherapy and radiotherapy and now awaits her prognosis.

With the time she has spent away from hospital visits, Sandra has been busy fundraising to enhance the support given to patients and their families. As past President, Sandra nominated her chosen charities to benefit from the Club’s fundraising activities which included quiz nights, tea parties and a Yelverton Fun Day event.

Mustard Tree Interim Manager, Miranda Benney said: “We are delighted that Sandra has chosen the Mustard Tree and Triangle Centre. The monies donated will go towards developing the garden at the Mustard Tree and towards complementary therapies in Tavistock”.

The garden at the Mustard Tree is incredibly important as it provides a quiet, outdoor space for patients to use when they want to relax or just take some time for themselves.

Complementary therapies available to patients at the Triangle Centre include massage, reflexology and Craniosacral therapy which aims to aid relaxation, reduce muscle tension and help to alleviate anxiety, stress and low mood.
