Parking changes at Derriford Hospital
As of 24 January, the Multi-Storey Car Park at Derriford Hospital has been made public-only.
The Trust is responding to patients who were arriving late for appointments because they were finding it difficult to know where to park.
These changes aim to ensure that patients are able to park and make it to their appointments on time, as well as improve traffic flow on site.
Staff parking has been re-provided in other car parks on the site – there has been no reduction in the number of staff able or permitted to park on site.
The result is that there will be more spaces available for members of the public to park in the multi-storey car park.
Changes to public car park C (between the John Bull Building and the Derriford Centre for Health and Wellbeing)
The public car park previously known as “Public Car Park C” will become staff only. Members of the public who would normally park in car park C are asked to use the multi-storey car park instead.
We thank patients and staff for their understanding and cooperation with the changes which we’ll closely monitor over the coming weeks.
A reminder about the on-site shuttle bus
The Derriford site is quite large and parking is not always as close to the entrance as some patients need it to be, so we have a shuttle bus available for patients and their carers that need help getting around the site.
- To book the shuttle bus: park in any disabled/standard car parking space, as applicable. Call the parking desk on 01752 432000 giving your location, they will arrange for the driver to collect you, and drive you to wherever you need to go within the Derriford site.
- After your appointment/visit is over, call again for collection and return to your parked vehicle. Alternatively, go to the parking desk, by the main entrance, who will call the bus for you.
We regret that the bus cannot currently transport persons in wheelchairs, but folded wheelchairs, walkers and other large items can be accommodated.
The shuttle bus service is free of charge.

- The George P&R (Citybus 34 and 42C & Stagecoach 1 and 1A Services)
- Coypool P&R (Citybus 50 and 51 & Stagecoach 52 Services)
- Milehouse P&R (Citybus 34 Only)
