Profile:
Lt Col Adams was commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps prior to graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 1993. He served as House Surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Military Hospital, Woolwich before completing all arms P Company. This was followed by 3 years of regimental duty principally with 9 Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers and 2 Battalion The Parachute Regiment. This period included an operational tour in the Balkans and deployments to the Arctic and North Africa.
Surgical training then continued with posts in the South West of England, Edinburgh and Oxford and a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma in Denver, Colorado. This training was interrupted for the first of 2 tours in Iraq.
Promoted to Lt Col after deployment to Afghanistan in February 2009, he is currently posted to 16 Medical Regiment and works as a Consultant Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon in The Ministry of Defence Hospital Unit, Derriford in Plymouth.
