Lt Col James Baden

Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Microsurgeon

Head and shoulder shot of Lt Col James BadenLt Col James Baden joined the Royal Navy 1997 and passed out as Surgeon Lieutenant at the Britania Royal Naval Collage in 2000. He completed the All Arms Commando Course in 2001 and served as a Medical Officer in the Second Mine Counter Measure Squadron and 40 Command Royal Marines. He transferred to the Royal Army Medical Corps in 2007 at the rank of Major. 

Lt Col Baden was appointed as an Army Consultant Advisor for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2016 and then as a Defence Consultant Advisor for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in September 2020 until September 2023. 

He was appointed as a Consultant Plastic surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) in April 2013. He was Head of the Plastic Surgery Department at the QEHB from 2017 to 2019. He transferred to Derriford as Consultant Plastic Surgeon in January 2024.

Qualifications

BMSc and BDS University of Dundee 1990 and 1992, MBBS University of Newcastle upon Tyne 1999. FDS RCPS Glasgow 1996, MRCS England 2004, FRCS Plastic surgery 2011.
