General information:
Dr Blayney qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2006, completing postgraduate core medical and higher specialist training in the Mersey Deanery.  In 2014, she spent a year in Canada undertaking a clinical fellowship with the Calgary Stroke Program to develop her experience of hyperacute stroke management and clinical stroke trials.  After gaining her Certificate of Completion of Training in 2015, she took up her first consultant position at Gloucester Royal Hospital working in Geriatric Medicine & Stroke.  Dr Blayney moved from there to Plymouth to join the growing Healthcare for the Elderly team, part of the department’s exciting five year plan to expand their services to include ‘front door’ working to improve care of frail elderly patients

Geriatric inpatient care
OPAL (Older Persons Assessment & Liaison) Service – providing ‘front door’ specialist care for frail elderly patients in the ED and MAU
Rapid access TIA clinic 
Stroke thrombolysis oncall
ALS (Advanced Life Support) instructor
