Site Services as a directorate comprises of Estates, Estate Development & Site Management, Facilities, Future Hospitals and Hotel Services. We are proud to provide the 24/7 cleaning, portering, security, catering and maintenance services and repairs, amongst (many) others, for the Trust. In addition, we also have a number of smaller teams responsible for fire safety, project planning and delivery and management of space utilisation. Although a lot of the work we do goes on behind the scenes, our dedicated services are crucial to the support and delivery of patient-centric care.

Mark Twain

Mark Twain once said, “find a job you enjoy doing and you will never have to work a day in your life.” During your working day, we want you to feel that the environment is enjoyable, engaging, encouraging, and supportive. In what can often be a demanding workplace, our goal is to guarantee that each and every one of our employees feels accepted, respected, has a sense of belonging, and shares our common goal. We value and welcome employees from many backgrounds, identities, and experiences. We have clear core values, encourage communication, promote inclusivity & diversity and actively seek to reward and recognise good behaviours. Our aim is to provide WOW services throughout our directorate by working as a team and as individuals to achieve our common goal.

Brendan – Project Support Manager

At 18 I started on the Estates helpdesk team as a business & administration apprentice, this apprenticeship lasted 12 months from that I gained a full time job as a Band 2 administration assistant in Facilities. I worked in the Facilities team for 2 years then moved onto a band 4 role as a “Quality systems technician” within the Estates Development department. After 4 years I moved onto a “Project Support Manager” role which is still my current job. My whole adult working life career has been within the Site services department. Site Services Is a great place to work as there is such a variety of expertise of what it takes to successfully run a hospital all in one office. There are many opportunities to progress and climb higher in your career. I would with great confidence recommend an apprenticeship within Site services to my friends/family.

Josie – Bed Manager

I started my journey with Site Services as a band 3 Domestic Supervisor in 2018 transferring to the Portering team as Portering Team Leader in 2021, where I gained my care certificate and started my managers passport which gave me the opportunity to gain valuable skills and knowledge, through training courses such as manual handling, medical gases, and bloods. The experience and knowledge I have gained from working within site services has helped me progress to my current job role as a band 4 Bed Manager within the command centre of the hospital.
