
Dr S Courtman
Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist
General information:
Dr Courtman trained as a consultant in anaesthesia in the South West and started as a consultant here in 2004. He has specialised in paediatric anaesthesia and completed his specialist training at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Dr Courtman has a particular interest in looking after children with challenging behaviour and disabilities and also in children’s pain management. He currently leads the Children’s Surgical Service and is also the lead for Acute Paediatric Medicine.
Dr Courtman is on the national council for the Association of Paediatric Anaesthesia which helps set national standards for the care of children attending hospital for surgery.
He also works for the charity Orbis operating on children with impaired vision around the world www.orbis.org
