Consultant Cardiologist and Clinical Governance Lead
Dr Edward J Davies BSc MBBS MD FRCP is a Consultant Cardiologist at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. He qualified from the Royal Free and University College Medical School, London, in 2002 and subsequently completed specialist cardiology training on the SW Peninsula rotation before being appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist in Plymouth in 2018.
Dr Davies has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease and provides both general and specialist cardiology services. He has a particular interest in heart rhythm disorders, cardiac implantable electronic devices and inherited cardiac conditions. He leads several regional specialist services and is actively involved in service development, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives across the South West.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Davies is Clinical Governance Lead for Cardiology at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. He is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based and patient-centred care and is involved in the training and supervision of the next generation of cardiologists.
Outside his clinical practice, Dr Davies enjoys family life with his two young children. He remains an enthusiastic cyclist, although opportunities to indulge this hobby have become somewhat less frequent in recent years.
