Consultant Neurosurgeon

Headshot of Owain Davies, consultant NeurosurgeonMr Davies is a Consultant Neurosurgeon based in Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. He was an undergraduate at the University of Bristol Medical School, graduating with honours and an intercalated BSc in Neuroscience. Mr Davies completed his foundation training before teaching anatomy at the University of Bristol for a year. He was awarded a National Training Number in Neurosurgery where he worked in Bristol and Plymouth. After completing his neurosurgical training, he completed a Royal College of Surgeons fellowship in Functional Neurosurgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Since starting in Derriford, he has been developing a Functional Neurosurgery service to serve Devon and Cornwall.

His subspecialist interests include neuromodulation for pain, spasticity, epilepsy and movement disorders. He is a member of the neuromodulation MDT, facial pain MDT and is the clinical lead of the intra-thecal baclofen service. In additional to functional neurosurgery, he is experienced with cranial neurosurgery and non instrumented spinal surgery, including degenerative cervical, thoracic and lumbar pathologies.
