Mr W Douie

Consultant Surgeon

Initially from Zimbabwe, attended University in South Africa and qualified in 1989. After a few years in ‘General hospital practice’ both in an academic and rural setting, started specialist training in General Surgery again back in Cape Town. Mr Douie was awarded a Fellowship in General Surgery in 1999 and then for the next three years worked as a Junior Consultant in Cape Town where he was awarded a Masters in Medicine.

Came to the UK to further his colorectal training and took up a post as visiting clinical fellow in Colorectal Surgery in Edinburgh. Prior to this he spent a few months in Plymouth and returned to a consultant post after this fellowship year in Edinburgh.

He deals with all aspects of colorectal disease from diagnosis through to treatment. Although minor perianal conditions and colorectal malignancies make up a large part of his practice, he is particularly interested in pelvic floor disorders and Inflammatory bowel disease and has developed a busy practice in Plymouth in these conditions.
