Miss Ellie Edlmann
Professor of Neurosurgery and Consultant Neurosurgeon
Miss Edlmann is an associate professor of Neurosurgery and Consultant Neurosurgeon working at the University of Plymouth and University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.
Miss Edlmann was an undergraduate at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and completed her neurosurgical clinical training in South West Peninsula. During her training she completed a PhD in Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge and then took up a senior lecturer position at the University of Plymouth.
Her specialist clinical interests inclu neuro-oncology and awake surgery, brain trauma and general neurosurgery including non-instrumented spine surgery. In addition to her clinical practice she undertakes research, particularly in the field of clinical trials. She is the lead for several clinical trials locally and has helped design and set-up several large national clinical trials including in head injury and prevention of wound infections after brain surgery. She supervises local students and professionals in their research and is co-chair of the Plymouth joint clinical-academic board.
