General information:

Dr Franklin graduated from the University of Southampton in 2007 and completed her anaesthesia training across various hospitals in the South West.

Danielle completed her specialist paediatric anaesthesia training at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney, Australia. It was here that she honed skills in anaesthetising small children and babies for a range of complex conditions. 

Dr Franklin has an interest in research. She was appointed chairwoman of SWARM (South West Anaesthesia Research Matrix) whilst a trainee and also led the first trainee-led anaesthesia research team in the country. You may come across some of these research studies whilst being treated in the region and at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.

Other interests include the use of quality improvement (QI) methodologies integrated with human factors approaches to improve care, particularly looking at system design. Dr Franklin has led a number of successful QI projects, both in the UK and abroad, and is the quality improvement lead for the Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists.
