General information:
Dr Tim Howell trained at the University of Bristol qualifying in 1995. His early medical training was in the South West, before specialty training in respiratory and general internal medicine in the Wessex region, including a period of research leading to the award of DM from University of Southampton. He joined Derriford hospital as a consultant in respiratory medicine in 2006.
General areas of expertise:
Dr Howell has general expertise across the full range of respiratory and general medicine. He cares for inpatients at Derriford, and sees outpatients here and at Tavistock Hospital
Particular areas of expertise:
Dr Howell sub specialises in lung and pleural malignancy, and interstitial lung disease. He runs the endobronchial ultrasound service with Dr Daneshvar. His other interests include asbestos related disease, and he is the respiratory physician supporting the bone marrow transplant service led by Dr H Hunter.
