Mr. Jeffery graduated with First Class Honours in Medicine, Surgery, and Biomedical Science from the University of Birmingham in 2007. He completed his foundation training at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine in Birmingham before embarking on a series of operational deployments as a Royal Navy Medical Officer, serving both at sea and ashore.

In 2012, Mr. Jeffery joined the South West Neurosurgical Training Programme, initially training at Frenchay, Southmead, and Bristol Children’s Hospitals, before completing his higher specialist training at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. During this time, he also earned a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management, Leadership, and Innovation.

He was appointed as a locum consultant at the South West Neurosurgery Centre in Plymouth in 2020 and became a substantive consultant in 2022.

Mr. Jeffery’s practice encompasses a broad range of cranial and spinal neurosurgical procedures, with particular expertise in disorders of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and intradural spinal pathology. His specialist interests include complex hydrocephalus, Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH), Chiari malformation, and syringomyelia. He is the departmental lead for CSF disorders and, together with Mr. Muquit and Dr. Noad, runs the highly regarded Peninsula Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus Service. Mr. Jeffery is an active member of the International Hydrocephalus Society and the British Syringomyelia and Chiari Group, regularly collaborating with colleagues worldwide to advance the treatment of these conditions.

A strong advocate for patient safety, Mr. Jeffery serves as the Clinical Governance Lead in Plymouth. He also plays a key role in leadership and system-wide improvements as the Clinical Co-Lead for the Southwest Neurosurgery Operational Delivery Network. Additionally, he is committed to education, regularly teaching and supervising medical students and resident doctors, and is an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor.
