Open statement from UHP in response to violent protests

Over the last few days we have seen deplorable violence and intimidation in towns and cities across the UK. Many colleagues may have seen or heard the horrifying actions, and last night this spread to our city of Plymouth. On behalf of the board at UHP, we wholeheartedly condemn the deliberate acts of violence that have taken place and we want to make a clear statement about our values and behaviours as an organisation.

UHP team reaches 200 robotic gynae procedures milestone

A gynaecological surgical team at Derriford Hospital has reached the milestone of carrying out 200 robotic gynaecological surgeries. Earlier this year, the team recently carried out 12 hysterectomies over one weekend of intensive surgery, using a robotic approach. DaVinci robotic surgery has been introduced into the gynaecology department over the last two years, and has proved to have many benefits in terms of patient care and surgical capability, as well as time and cost benefits for University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP).
